Together, We Did It!

Over $500,000 Raised for 3D Mammography Equipment for Cowichan

The Cowichan District Hospital Foundation is very pleased to announce that over $500,000 has been raised to purchase new advanced mammography equipment for Cowichan District Hospital. This state-of-the-art equipment will be the first of its kind on Vancouver Island and will help thousands of families, as early detection is key in the fight against breast cancer. Together, with support from over 780 individuals and organizations, the Cowichan District Hospital Foundation reached and surpassed its goal.

Jerry Doman, Board Chair of the Cowichan District Hospital Foundation shared that, “Thanks to our generous community, we have exceeded our $450,000 goal for the mammography equipment. We’re thankful to all the individuals, families and organizations that supported this campaign. The additional funds that were raised will be used towards our next project for highest priority needs at Cowichan District Hospital and Cairnsmore Place.”

The new 3D Mammography equipment will be arriving in April for installation. Once staff training is complete, the new equipment will be available for patient use at the end of April at Cowichan District Hospital.

“On behalf of everyone at the Cowichan District Hospital and the Foundation, thank you Cowichan for investing in local healthcare. Your donations make a real difference for the community.” – Tracey Brown, Interim Executive Director, Cowichan District Hospital Foundation.
